The RZA’s directorial debut happens today with the release of The Man with the Iron Fists, a fucking awesome looking homage to old school Asian kung fu movies. It was also announced recently that he was working with comic legend Grant Morrison and Reginald Hudlin, a producer for Iron Fists, to adapt Morrison’s new comic Happy!. To further prove to everyone that he is serious about making movies now, he has already set up another two projects to direct: A Genghis Khan bio-pic and an action-thriller about a big ass diamond.
The Khan bio-pic has been in the works for years. John Milius, co-writer of Apocalypse Now and writer/director of Red Dawn, has been working on the script and was set to be the director. But with RZA taking over there he is going to serve as the film’s executive producer. Andre Morgan and Peter Lam are on board as producers, as well. The film is planned to start shooting in China next year.
No Man’s Land, which is written by a guy I’ve never heard of and one of the people who wrote the Dwayne Johnson remake of Walking Tall, is about a thief who steals a diamond from a powerful crime boss. The diamond is way more valuable than he thought as everyone is now trying to kill him and get the diamond. With the help of a dancer (professional or exotic, we don’t know) he needs to keep his dumb ass alive and get paid for the diamond. Hudlin will be serving as a producer for the film, which leads THR to believe that this will most likely be his next project.
