Frank Grillo Cast in Captain America: The Winter Soldier as Crossbones

The man who once killed Captain America on the courtroom steps back in 2007, Crossbones, has just been casted for the film Captain America: The Winter Soldier.

Actor Frank Grillo (The Grey, Gangster Squad) is set to be donning the black and white mask.

The Captain America sequel is believed to be based of the 2005 storyline written by Ed Brubacker that brought Bucky Barnes back from the dead as a brainwashed Soviet super-spy/assassin. Crossbones along with Synthia Schmidt, the daughter of the Red Skull also play a part in the Winter Soldier story arc.

Captain America: The Winter Soldier will be directed by brothers Anthony and Joe Russo with Chris Evans, Sebastian Stan, Anthony Mackie, Scarlett Johansson, Samuel L. Jackson and Cobie Smulders starring.
