A new Electronic Arts policy document confirms that Wii U gamers will need an Origin account to play EA titles online. By signing up for an Origin account players will need to provide standard info like email address, country, date of birth, etc, but also Mii information that is probably attached with your friend list.
Also, the document is titled “Nintendon Network ID.” Nintendo has confirmed that Friend Codes from the Wii would return for the Wii U. It is not clear if “Nintendo Network ID” will be the new name for these.
When using the Wii U, EA Origin is not an exclusive requirement for the rest of the systems access. The same policy is in place for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. In all cases for all platforms, nobody needs to agree to share credit card information or other personal financial account information.
Origin is an iteration of the EA Store which was released in June 2011. It is currently working as a hub infrastructure for playing and downloading PC games. There are more than 12 million users and they have over 50 publishing partners, all over its integration on Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.
