RZA to Direct Grant Morrison’s Happy! Movie

Next month, The RZA will be making his directorial debut with The Man with the Iron Fists. I’ve seen the trailers and it looks pretty awesome. We’ll have to wait and see how it actually turns out, but it looks like it could be a pretty good debut. Before anyone’s even seen his debut, though, RZA is already working on his next movie. It will be an adaptation of the new Grant Morrison comic… Huh.

Yes, it seems that the RZA has teamed up with the comic legend and Reginald Hudlin, a producer for The Man with the Iron Fists, to turn Happy!, Morrison’s latest comic, into a movie. For those who don’t know, Happy! follows Nick Sax, an ex-cop and a hit man, who starts seeing a flying blue horse named Happy after a job goes wrong. It’s pretty good.

RZA will be directing the movie, Hudlin will be producing, and Morrison will be penning the script.

The project isn’t set up anywhere, yet. The plan is for RZA and Hudlin to develop the film and then start shopping it around to studios and financiers.
