You know that book you read in high school? You know, the one about the French guy framed for a crime he didn’t commit and locked away in an island fortress for years before he escapes, bent on revenge against the people who put him in prison? Considered to be the greatest revenge story of all time by many? No? Still not ringing any bells? Well regardless, it’s getting a manga.
That’s right, the author of Samurai Gun, Kazuhiro Kumagai, will launch his adaptation of the Alexandre Dumas novel, The Count of Monte Cristo, in the 11th issue of Shueisha’s Grand Jump Premium magazine on October 24. The story is set during the industrial revolution in France as Edmond Dantés escapes from prison and takes on the guise of the titular count in order to exact revenge on those who put him there.
