Sony Pictures currently has two ill-advised remakes of classic horror movies set for release in spring 2013: Carrie and Evil Dead. Now while I’m not that big of a fan of the former, the latter and its sequels are some of my favorite movies of all time, so I’m kind miffed about all this. Especially when I heard there won’t be an Ash in the new one. Anyway, Sony hasn’t shown much from these two movies yet. But at New York Comic Con in two weeks, attendees will finally get a look at these movies and see just how bad they look.
On October 13th, day three of the Con, the Evil Dead panel and the Carrie panel will be happening. During these panels, people will be given their first look at these two projects. The Evil Dead panel will have director Fede Alverez, star Jane Levy, and finally one of the producers, Ash himself, Bruce Campbell speaking. Meanwhile the Carrie panel will have director Kimberly Peirce, and stars Chloë Grace Moretz and Julianne Moore. According to the NYCC website, both panels will be held from 3:45pm-4:45pm in the IGN Theater.
Evil Dead is set for release on April 12th, 2013, and Carrie is opening March 15th, 2013. New York Comic Con is happening in… well, New York from October 11th to 14th.
