Marvel comics solicitations for this coming December have announced that the long running series Amazing Spider-Man will be ending at issue #700.
Also that month will be issues #699 and #699.1, leading up to the grand finale which has promised to be a confrontation with Doctor Octopus who learns Peter Parker’s secret.
What this means for our favourite wall-crawler after #700 is unclear as he has been seen in promotional material for Marvel NOW! But it really could be anyone under that mask. Is Earth-616 getting their own Miles Morales? Or like Iron Man, Captain America, and Thor, Spidey is just getting a new title starting at issue #1?
While a little while back Spidey writer Dan Slott has said that after issue 700 he’d “have to go into hiding” I’m expecting the worst.
Speaking personally, Amazing Spider-Man is one of two Marvel comics I am reading currently. No matter what happens after Amazing Spider-Man #700, I’m going to not read any Spider-Man comics that come after. (Unless they undue One More Day.)
Amazing Spider-Man issues #699, #699.1, and the final issue, #700 will all hit the stands this December.
