Season Passes are becoming a thing in the games industry now. A single purchase thing that guarantees you all the DLC the company has planned for the game at a discounted price. Mortal Kombat, L.A. Noire, Gears of War 3, Saints Row the Third, all these games had season passes. Personally, I like the idea of a season pass. Gets you all the DLC, you pay less and you don’t need to buy the game new. I guess Gearbox likes the idea, too, because they have confirmed Borderlands 2 will have a season pass.
First announced on NeoGAF then confirmed by Kotaku, Gearbox has four DLC packs planned for Borderlands 2, like they did with the first game, that will make up the season pass. Probably like the first game, each pack will run you about $10. So that means that if you bought each add on separately that would run you $40. But with the season pass you will be able to get all that DLC for just $30, saving yourself 25%. That’s a pretty good deal.
Gearbox has said that they will be giving more official details soon, but apparently if you pre-order the game it will cost you even less if I’m reading the article right.
Borderlands 2 is due out September 18th, 2012.
