Following the news of Hugh Laurie leaving the project, Jose Padiha’s remake of the 1987 classic, RoboCop, has casted the role of Raymond Sellars. The newest member of the cast is none other than Batman himself, Michael Keaton.
“Michael is the final addition to the amazing cast we have assembled for this film and it is so great to have the last puzzle piece in place. It is thrilling that everything has come together to bring this innovative new vision of RoboCop to life. We’ve got a great script, a great cast, some killer ED-209’s and I can’t wait to get Alex Murphy back on the streets,” said Padilha.
Padiha’s cast also includes Gary Oldman, Samuel L. Jackson, Jackie Earle Haley, Jay Baruchel, Abbie Cornish and Joel Kinnaman as RoboCop himself. So far none of the characters from the original film have been announced as casted aside from Alex Murphy/RoboCop and Murphy’s wife.
Jose Padiha’s RoboCop is expected to be shooting in September with the film scheduled to be released August 9, 2013.
