Square Enix Teasing New The World Ends With You

The World Ends With You was one of the reasons I kept my DS for as long as I did. It was an interesting take on JRPGs that I kind of liked. Seems like someone at Square liked, too, because it looks like we may be getting another one.

Square launched a site a few days ago with the shadow of what looks like Shibuya in the background with a countdown timer in the TWEWY font. After a few days, some music from the game started playing, leading everyone to conclude we would be getting another game in the series.

The original TWEWY was about Neku, a pissed off loner kid who ends up in an alternate reality version of Shibuya where he can still see and interact with regular Shibuya but no one can see him. He meets a girl named Shiki and the two of them “forge a pact” to compete in the Reapers’ Game where they have to destroy a certain amount of monsters or reach a certain location using pins that give them superpowers or they are destroyed.

There are quite a few games coming up that are really making me consider getting a 3DS. You know, if I had money. And assuming this game is coming to the 3DS. Could be a Wii U thing. You don’t know.

The timer will end on Sunday night at midnight, which is also Monday morning, so we should have more details on the game then.
