Christopher Nolan just finished up his trilogy of Batfilms and with him producing the upcoming Superman reboot Man of Steel, some people were hoping he might helm the Justice League Warner Bros has been working for years. However, Nolan has said that will not be involved with the Justice League movie. So who will WB get instead? According to Variety, they want Ben Affleck.
“Multiple sources” have told Variety that Affleck has been the only one to receive the script for the movie that was written by Will Beall, who also wrote Gangster Squad for WB. Affleck has made it clear that he is only interested in projects that will let him act in it as well as direct it, so if he does end up taking the job we could see him suit up as a member of the League.
But, according to Deadline, he won’t be taking the job. Mike Fleming said that he got this story days ago but didn’t run it because representatives of Ben Affleck told him that Affleck would not be taking the job. “Several sources” told Fleming that the most Affleck will do is take a meeting about the film.
Assuming Warner Bros finds a director for the movie, the earliest they can release it is in 2015, meaning that it would have to compete with The Avengers 2, and no one wants that.
