Oddworld is Coming Back and You Can Name It

Developer Just Add Water is currently in the process on making an HD remake of the first Oddworld game, Abe’s Oddysee. For a while they were just going to call it Abe’s Oddysee HD, but according to them, ” that makes it sound like we’ve injected bigger pictures into the original engine.” That is not what this is. “This is a grounds-up remake with glorious 3D graphics but retaining the classic 2D gameplay!” So, they need a new name, and are putting it out to the community to choose it.

People can submit their own names for the game here, and the winning choice will get some prizes. Along with having the name they made up be the name of the game they will also be listed in the credits and get a signed poster of the box art by Raymond Swanland, an artist who has worked on all of the Oddworld games.

The closing date for submissions is this Friday, August 10th, so get your submissions in while you still can.

On a related note, Just Add Water posted on the Oddworld Inhabitants Facebook page that the Vita releases of Stranger’s Wrath HD and Munch’s Oddysee HD, which were scheduled for release in June, are going to be coming “very soon.” They just need to finish making them then send them off to Sony QA.
