Recently, an announcement was made on the Studio Ghibli International Twitter account that they would be partnering with Whole Hog Theater to produce a stage version of their film Princess Mononoke.
Now this come across as a bit weird. It is, don’t get me wrong. Seeing as how it is an attempt at adapting a) an anime movie and b) a Studio Ghibli movie at that, it is a very ambitious production. The Ghibli films that I have seen have so many bizarre creatures and set piece moments in them that it is hard to imagine anybody translating any of them to the stage. But if they pull it off, it’ll probably be one hell of a show.
The show is going to run from April 2nd to April 6th, 2013 at the New Diorama Theater in London.
