On the PlayStation Blog yesterday James Stevenson, Senior Community Manager at Insomniac Games, announced that the next Ratchet & Clank game will feature a tower defense element to the gameplay.
Ratchet & Clank: Full Frontal Assault is the next game in the series that will be coming out later this year on the PSN. The game will be returning to “the classic camera, weapons and third-person Ratchet gameplay that the series is known for.” But, players will also be building and defending bases from wave after wave of enemies using the “ultimate Ratchet & Clank arsenal.”
I am not entirely sure what that means. The Assassin’s Creed series tried something like this earlier this year and everyone hated it, so it’s weird that Insomniac would take a similar approach to their series. A series, keep in mind, that has been about platforming and insane weaponry. It doesn’t really seem like the kind of game that would lend itself well to the tower defense gameplay model.
The game will also feature local split-screen co-op as well as online co-op.
