So Comic-Con happened. Adam Horowitz and Edward Kitsis, the creators of ABC’s Once Upon a Time, were there and revealed some cool new things that will be coming in the second season of the show which will be premiering this fall. I figured I would do a bit of a rundown of some of the things they announced.
First off, new characters. If you saw the preview video I posted a few days ago, you will know that notorious pirate Captain Hook will be appearing in the next season. But he’s not the only one. It was also announced that Jack, of Beanstalk fame, Sleeping Beauty and Mulan will also be coming to Storybrooke. No word on who will be playing Hook or Jack but we do know that Sarah Bolger from The Tudors will be playing Sleeping Beauty and Jamie Chung from Sucker Punch will be playing Mulan.
Next, they are going to answer some questions. The three questions from the first season that Kitsis and Horowitz have confirmed they are going to be answering (if the article I am getting this info from is to be believed) are: “Who is Dr. Whales’ fairy tale identity?”, “What happened to Baelfire, Rumpelstiltskin’s son?” and “Who is Henry’s biological dad?” Those were the big questions left unanswered at the end of season one, and I am really excited to find out the answers.
Third up is the effect breaking the curse had on Storybrooke. When the curse was broken, while characters did remember their past lives they didn’t just turn back to their old selves. The creators said the personalities that the characters were given in Storybrooke didn’t just get erased. They are still there, and so is all the stuff from their fairy tale lives. The second season will be about these characters coming to terms with this entire other life they had and what it means for them.
Finally there are the dead dudes. In a weird and kinda funny video that is posted at the end of all this, we see Graham. For those of you who don’t watch the show, he’s a character who died part way through the first season. Kitsis and Horowitz said that with the return of magic Graham and fellow dead person Maleficent could come back to life. Kitsis said, in regards to Maleficent, “I didn’t see her body.”
I am really excited for the next season of Once Upon a Time, and all of this new info is just adding to that excitement. We will keep you updated about the second season as we get more information.
