During a recent interview with PlayStation Blog, Mortal Kombat co-creator and NetherRealm’s creative director Ed Boon said that if the studio’s next fighting game, Injustice: Gods Among Us, does well he wants to see the studio’s next project be a non-fighting game.
When asked what he would like to do with the studio since they have “broken out of Mortal Kombat,” Boon replied:
“We feel like Injustice is kind of our first step towards that. If it does well, we would like to see our next step be a non-fighting game, maybe something unique in its own right. This is our first step in that direction.”
I am really interested in seeing what these guys can do in a non-fighting game. They tried something like that with MK and they were all crap, but it sounds like they are going to be making these games based on new IPs and not just taking characters from one of their fighting games and putting them in a non-fighting game environment.
