It’s been a while since I have done a Dark Thoughts, so I may be a little rusty but now I have some stuff on my mind and have decided to write about them. First up: Reptilian-Humanoids.
Since I have never stated the following so none of you may know, I am a science-fiction fan. Something that I have noticed in a bunch of the stuff I watch, play, etc., have an over-abundance of reptilian style aliens and underground beings. The Mass Effect series has quite a few species that have some similar traits with lizards, in Doctor Who there is a recurring species of subterranean lizard people, and there are countless movies where if the aliens are not small and grey (another thing that kind of bugs me) they are some kind of reptilian-humanoids. I ask, why?
As best as I can tell, this whole lizard people thing started with David Icke, a British writer and conspiracy theorist. He and his followers truly believe that a race of shape-shifting, blood drinking lizard people from the Alpha Draconis called the Babylonian Brotherhood have been secretly controlling humanity for generations. He also believes that some of the most prominent figures in modern society are reptilian, including (and I am not making this up) country music stars Kris Kristofferson and Boxcar Willie… When I first read this I laughed harder than when I first read what Scientologists believe happens to us after we die.
So all because one crazy British guy wrote 4 books, we have been denied some of the more creative alien and underground dwellers in favor of lizard people…… What happened to us? Remember when mole-people were all the rage? What about lobster-people from that one episode of South Park? If anyone out there is currently writing, thinking about writing, or knows someone who is writing some sci-fi shit, please don’t use lizard people. Take back the monopoly they have on sci-fi creatures for our Talpidaean overlords………. I mean, those fictional mole-people. Yeah, fictional.
