Dead Space Save Files Unlock Plasma Cutter in Dead Space 2

For those of you who played Visceral Games’ sci-fi horror smash hit Dead Space, you know that it is some time after you encounter your first Necromorph that you get Isaac Clarke’s trusty Plasma Cutter. I don’t know about you guys, but I really loved this weapon and have put the most upgrade nodes into it.

Anyway, if you have a save file from the first Dead Space you get the Plasma Cutter right from the get go in Dead Space 2, regardless of the progress of the save file. However, any upgrades you had made to it in the file will not carry over. Even though this will probably be very irritating if you are  used to a super powered Plasma Cutter, it makes sense. When you start a horror themed game like Dead Space 2, you can’t exactly start with a gun that has upgrades out the yin-yang. It’s all about starting underpowered and building up to this games equivalent of the BFG-9000.

Dead Space 2 ships January 25 for the PS3, Xbox 360 and PC. This unlock will be supported for all versions of the game. Cannot wait to dismember some space zambies.
