Last week Yoichi Wada of Square Enix said they won’t be remaking Final Fantasy VII until another Final Fantasy game beats it in sales. Keeping in mind the fact that FF7 is the best selling Final Fantasy game ever, if not the best selling JRPG ever, it seemed like fans of the game would never get a remake of the game. Well, Square is keeping firm on this idea and is possibly trolling its audience, because they are re-releasing the original PC version of the game.
According to Square Enix the new release will have 36 achievements and will come with a few new features including Cloud saves, an update for the game to run on most modern machines and something called Character Boosters, which boosts your HP, MP and Gil levels to their maximum. I thought the whole point of these games was to level up to increase these things but whatever.
No release date or price point has been announced, and apparently the game will only be available for download through the Square Enix store. On the game’s store page, it can seen that game will be coming in four languages: English, French, German and Spanish.
The system requirements were also given. To play this version of the game, you will need:
- Microsoft Windows XP/Vista/7 (32/64-bit)
- 2GHz processor or better
- 1GB of RAM
- DirectX 9-compatible graphics card

The PC version of FF7 pretty much sucked in comparison to the PS version. It took a game with an already difficult world navigation and adapted it to number pad controls. Although if it counts as a “current FF game” then there is a chance of it outselling the first release and earning us an HD re-release.
