The title basically sums up the large portion of the news to be presented to you in the article; what it doesn’t do is encapsulate my sheer excitement at the information. Aniplex will be bringing the movie to theaters simultaneously with the Japanese release in January, naturally with English subtitles. While I am unfortunately not in the United States, I am excited that this particular anime is getting a wider release.
For those not familiar, Anohana tells the story of 5 childhood best friends who drift apart after a 6th friend, Menma, dies. After 10 years, the ghost of Menma appearss and attempts to bring the group back together in order to fulfill her unfinished business that brought her spirit back(which she cannot remember). There is a lot of crying involved. Not so much in the show itself, but in the audience. Yes, everyone. Everybody who watches this show will cry, guaranteed.
If you get the chance, go see this movie when it’s released, even if you haven’t seen the show yet. It will be worth it. In the meantime, have a trailer.
