Earlier today, Scott Snyder (creator of American Vampire), Scott Tuft (No idea who the fuck this guy is) and Attila Futaki (artist of the Percy Jackson comics) announced that they will be working on a new horror series with publisher Image Comics.
According to the press release on CBR, Severed will be set mostly in 1916 America and focus on Jack Garron. Jack is a 12-year-old boy who runs away from home to find his father, “a wayward minstrel.” I guess minstrels were still cool in 1916. During his travels on the roads and rails, Jack runs into a “mysterious, charismatic salesman whose pearly whites cover the razor sharp teeth that he uses to feed on the innocent.”
Now, there is a possibility that this means metaphoric “razor sharp teeth” but since this is Image, it most likely means vampiristic or cannibalistic homeless people and there is gonna blood and body parts everywhere. I read the first 11 issues of American Vampire and really liked them so I am kinda stoked for this. American Vampire was nice and bloody with some really good writing.
Severed #1 of 7, which will be 32 pages and priced at $2.99, will be released August 3, 2011. Check back to Death’s Door then cause we might actually review it.
