A lot of games nowadays feel the need to add multiplayer for some reason. Dead Space 2, BioShock 2, Mass Effect 3, and many other games have multiplayer even though the ways the games are structured don’t really work in a multiplayer setting. Yet another game has fallen prey to multiplayer bug, though, and it will probably suck, too.
In a recent post on the PlayStation Blog Arne Meyer, community strategist at Naughty Dog, revealed some pre-order bonuses for their upcoming game. One of them is the Sights and Sounds Pack, which gets you the soundtrack, some avatars, and a new XMB skin. The other is the Survival Pack, which gets a whole bunch of multiplayer shit, like bonus XP, a melee attack booster, and some customizable stuff.
Meyer didn’t give any details about the multiplayer mode, saying that they eventually will before the game comes out. All I can say is, “Why?”. Co-op multiplayer I could understand what with there being two main characters, but competitive multiplayer? It just seems out of place in that game.
The Last of Us is set for release on May 7th, 2013, for the PS3.
