Guillermo del Toro is is returning to the world of horror with his next film being the haunted house thriller, Crimson Peak.
Legendary, which is also behind del Toro’s tentpole monsters-vs-robots film, has closed a deal with the filmmaker to pick up the project from Universal. Legendary will produce and be a major financing partner on the project with Universal Pictures retaining a finance option.
Screenwriter Lucinda Coxon has been attached to do rewrites on del Toro and Matthew Robbin’s original screenplay that is hoping to the channel classic gothic handed stories of yore.
Del Toro and Legendary hope to start production for Crimson Peak February 2014.
