Saban Brands, the company the distributed the original Digimon Adventure in North America, is at it again. This time, it’s bringing Digimon Fusion, the most recent season, to our TVs.
The company announced on Tuesday that they had acquired the rights to the Digimon franchise and will be working with MarVista Entertainment to distribute the show outside of Asia, meanwhile Toei Animation will be handling licensing and distribution within Asia. Saban Brands has not yet found a broadcaster for the series, but they will be debuting the show to potential broadcasters and distributors at the MIPCOM event, which runs from October 8th-11th in Cannes, France.
The show, which is called Digimon Xros Wars in Japan, focuses Taiki Kudo. After finding a Digivice called the Xros Loader, he and his friends go to the digital world where Taiki uses the Xros Loader to fuse Digimon together to help fight off the Bagra Army.
It’s been over a decade since I last watched a Digimon show, so I have no real comment on this. But I will say the back half of the series, called The Young Hunters Who Leapt Through Time, is pretty awesome title.
